Out of the museums and into real life

The 1960s saw the democratization of consumption also reach art. Pop Art broke with traditions and hierarchies and demanded total freedom in the use of all available media. Plastic – that seductively shiny material able to take any conceivable shape – was perfectly suited to this end. Artists experimented and produced artworks using plastic. The material was also ideal for making editions and multiples that could reach the broad masses as it was cheap.
